Cease and Desist
When you start a healing protocol or are planning on starting one, the first thing you want to do is stop taking whatever it was that threw you off balance to begin with. Just say no to:
* Any drink that isn’t water – no black tea, coffee, soda, dairy, even fruit juices as commercial fruit juices are loaded with sugars. Herbal teas and cleansing drinks are great. Fresh-squeezed veggie juices are great. Cultured drinks like Rejuvelac or Kefir are great.
* Any “food” that has a long list of ingredients.
* Anything with nitrates or nitrites (deli, sausage), MSG or other food additives.
* Artificial Sweeteners.
* Refined sugars.
* Refined wheat flour and yeast-risen breads.
* Chocolate, unless it’s high-quality dark chocolate, preferably cocoa.
* Any deep-fried foods.
* Most dairy unless cultured or raw. Free-range Eggs might be okay.
* Convenience foods like frozen microwave dinners, instant soups, even so-called power or protein bars.
* Meal replacement powders, shakes.
* Any substitute foods like margarine, egg beaters, non-dairy creamers.
* Commercial cleansers like Formula 409, bleach. Use a solution of vinegar and water instead, or baking soda, or Master's Miracle II, Simple Green. Never use pesticides like Raid (Windex works just as well) and avoid new cars because they have toxic off-gases, same with a lot of foam upholstery, dry cleaning, permanent press.
* Any emotional addictions, including an inclination to take offense, get angry or outraged even if it is righteous, frustrated, stressed out, road rage, gambling, gossip, flirting, worry or guilt. Avoid anything that is overly exciting and stimulating like roller coaster rides. Stop watching horror films or extreme thrillers; stick to comedies. Cultivate a “live and let live” attitude, a broader perspective, tell yourself, in a hundred years, who’s going to care? Find reasons to laugh. Give up on laziness most of all.
* Learn to be suspicious and question anyone who thinks they know better than you what you need in any area of your life, including me. Take charge of your life, be your own CEO and think of others (including me) as your advisors. If someone is playing a power trip or being manipulative, ask yourself, do they have my best interests at heart? And if I should meet Death, will they say, take me instead? (Of course not!) They may want to live your life for you, but chances are they won’t sacrifice their own life to save yours. And even so, you still don’t owe them anything.
* Conversely, be prepared to listen to good advice even if it goes against long-held beliefs, assumptions and opinions. Be flexible and keep an open mind; after all, if your assumptions were all correct, you wouldn’t be suffering!
* Any form of extremism, whether it's with your diet or lifestyle. Learn to move forward in balance. Balance is power! Balance is health!
