| I wasn't sure where to post this... I have very severe insomnia while pregnant ( stumps all my mid-wives!) Someone recently showed me a pamphlet for a product called "Naturally calm" its a highly absorbable form of magnesium. Have you heard of it before? I was wondering if it would help me with my insomnia, but also I wondered if any magnesium supplement would do...this stuff is a little on the expensive side. Do you have any suggestions? |

Hi Hanna,
If you want to suppliment using Magnesium..One of The best products (My Wife and I take every night) is; Solaray`s CAL MAG ZINC.
these minerals work best together.
The bottle says one dose = 4 capsules.
But,2 caps is enough for long term use as 2 caps =500 mgs of calcium (optimum dose-the body can`t absorb any more at a time. It`s the calcium that induces sleep...
Well my Wife and I found we used to keep waking up in the night..now with this product we dont.zzzzzzzz.
This is all info gleaned from Shelley and the friends here.
Hope this helps.
Regards Tony, |

| I have a catalog that has "the Vitamin Shoppe" brand of Calcium, Magnesium and zinc on sale ( two for the price of one) . Each serving contains 1500 mg. cal., 750 mg mag., and 45 mg. of zinc. Do you think this would work for me? Or is Solaray's better? |

Solaray is probably better. See, the thing is, there's calcium and then there's calcium! LOL! Solaray uses a good combination of SEVERAL different kinds of calcium so you don't totally neutralize your stomach acids. Most other supplements are simply calcium carbonate, which does. This is great if you have too much stomach acid, but most of us have too little.
And NO ONE should take 1500 mg at one time! so if they're recommending THAT as a single serving, they know NOTHING about mineral supplementation. |

well my mid wife suggested I try the Natural Calm stuff first (sorry to make you go through the trouble ) But I will let you know how it works if I can figure out which kind I should take....they have regular, for pregnant women, and with calcium. I hate trying to make these decisions! I always end up feeling like I should have gotten the "other one". |
