be sure to at least see the table of contents before you hand out your cash, even if it doesn't cost much. I can't tell you how many e-publications on health I've purchased that had titles that infer one thing and then deliver another, or don't deliver at all.
at the very least, the table of contents will give you an idea as to whether or not the subject matter coincides with your needs.
If they have an index or glossary or an appendix, list of sources, that's a big plus to me.
