G'Day Shelley!
I thought this may be a question that will benefit many people. I have been doing a number of Dosha tests from books and online and without a doubt I am scoring higher on Pitta but the other two tend to swap and change the results. As Pitta is very strong I will concentrate on that. I read that your highest scoring Dosha (mine being Pitta) is usually the one that needs to be balanced. Is this correct, if so I have a LOT of Pitta balancing to do *chuckles*. |

Yep, if your highest-scoring Dosha is 10 points or so higher than the next one (depending on the test), just focus on balancing and pacifying Pitta.
We have to focus overall on our Natal dosha, that is, the dosha we were born with, but when we're ill or imbalanced we have to also focus on the Dosha that is imbalanced, which may not always be our Natal Dosha. In this case we have what is called a Prikatu (sp?) or temporary dosha imbalance.
For instance, you can be innately Pitta, but after totally abusing your strong Pitta constitution have Vata or Kapha type complaints.
So to use the power of Dosha diagnostics completely, you have to understand what functions/ailments and parst of the body each Dosha rules, and how Ama, or toxins, affect each.
I'll be posting a fantastic breakdown that Dr. Vasant Lad did on how to treat a Dosha imbalance with or without Ama after I figure out how to make it easy to understand for people who have not read up on Ayurvedic medicine.
Several people have said they want questionnaires/tests to help them diagnose things in the Member Poll post in the Feedback forum so it will be getting top priority. |

| Strangely enough I was not aware of Natal Dosha but conducted the tests as if I was in my healthy state, because that is how I was and will be soon. I could see how my Dosha is different due to Candida and Coeliac, even my lung disease Bronchiectasis has changed things (mainly what weather I can tolerate). If a person gains a disease in life that is incurable then do they have to re-check their Dosha because the Natal Dosha is now permanently altered? |

yes. Things that permanently affect our dosha means it's time for a new dosha test to see where you're at, and a harder look at therapeutic diets. You may need to focus more on the therapeutic diet than the dosha-pacifying diet. For instance, as a Vata and Type O positive, I should be eating a ton of protein. But with impaired kidneys lots of protein is dangerous, raises my blood nitrogen level, which is toxic. So I have to up my carbs and non-animal fats.
If a vata person moved to Phoenix Arizona where it is always hot, they may start experiencing pitta imbalances. People who are combination doshas may find themselves turning into just one dosha because of the weather, etc. |
