Hi Shelley...I first met you on curezone. Have always been bothered
with constipation problems for as long as I can remember. Just seems
like nothing works for me. I have mitral valve,(Lanoxin) low thyroid (take Synthroid)..high cholesterol (Crestor)...high BP (Accupril)...am 58..
but my main problem is constipation.

Magnesium makes my heart flip flop...(as in OxyPowder) but I can take
Milk of Magnesia...just doesn't seem to help. Seems like the thing that
helps any at all is Triphala...and so far no side effects. But I only take
2 a day. Also take Primal Defense..on and off....

Any suggestions...I feel like a walking time bomb...now have mild
discomfort under right rib cage in front..slightly to side...possibly gall
bladder...I know that only functions at 20%....any advice?

Diet is fairly healthy...too much sugar...but lots of salads...raw...fruit...
not much meat...very little dairy.....Thanks katydid

You can take 8 Triphala a day, just take 2 pills 3x a day in between meals. Smile

Okay, if you know your gallbladder isn't functioning up to par, then that will have a bearing on constipation. Intestines are signaled to start their wave-like motion when bile is released. Bile triggers it. You have to have adequate fats in your diet (I like cycling between wheat germ oil, cod liver oil, flax, and simply take a tablespoon in the morning and sometimes castor oil right before bed) AND you have to have a clean and strong liver/gallbladder.

I have lots of tips for natural aids until you can get your liver clean in the FAQ under Bowel Management, and also be sure to read liver management.

To give you more exact tips I'd have to know a whole lot more, like exactly how long it takes you to have a BM (how many meals you eat a day, when you have an un-aided BM), whether the stool is normal (see stool analysis in the FAQ under Vital Health Management) or hard and compact. And where exactly does it get stuck, if you can tell? Do you have to strain to void?
