My hubby reacts to sugar, well his rosecea does. I have tried all sorts of meals for him. He tends to like rice ONLY when it is loaded with soy sauce. I tried the Lundburg rice and loved it, he says it is just etible. So I bought him frozen rice and chicken from Trader Joes and he is in heaven. However, the salt is high, like 1000mg for what portion he would eat. If that is the only salt he gets in a day for the most part, is that still a problem? His skin is flared up from cookies last week so it is hard to tell what is helping or not right now. What do you think Shellmeister?
Thanks

Hi katie sweetie! Always nice to hear from you.
If that is the ONLY salt he is getting, he is very probably fine. It is common to crave salts when you've overdosed on sugar and refined carbs, so his need may reduce with time. It also helps to ensure he's getting plenty of potassium (ACV, avocadoes - see list in FAQ). If the potassium is there, the salt won't be as much of a problem. And of course he has to get adequate fluids!
Try out Trader Joe's Rice Pilaf. It has lots of flavor, and I don't think it has as much salt as that frozen dish. It's a box, should be near the other rice/pasta foodstuffs.
Our salt needs do decrease with age, but still, salt is not the huge baddy that some people would have you believe. Sugar is still much much worse. |
