Shelley,

It would be appreciated, if you would be able to make an overview of nutrition in bodybuilding, and all the false practices used now in mainstream bodybuilding world. I know you had some reservations regarding that, so would like to hear you elaborate. Why its not good to mix so much proteins with carbs, why its not good to exceed in carbs in the morning, etc.

I can ask specific questions, but would like to see first, what you generally think on the subject.

The diet I recommend for bodybuilders is the same diet that I recommend for everyone else - a combination of tonifying super-skin-foods to maintain vital health, and regular foods chosen and prepared in a way that suits their individual body type.

While there are tons of companies saying you should do this or that, they're really only saying it to sell their products, which are highly-processed, ultimately toxic foods that place a heavy burden on our precious organs.

I'm very much "old school." Jack La Lanne had it right - a diet rich in whole foods with some meats and some periods of vegetarianism, cut out refined sugars, and juice veggies so you aren't always over-working your digestive system.

Periods of vegetarianism is important because bodybuilders eat a LOT of calories so it's tougher for them to remain alkaline. Periods of meat eating is important because they need the proteins and minerals. They can eat fewer calories and much less bulk overall if they eat meats occasionally.

I think I've already posted about the commonly believed myth that eating more protein creates more muscle? If you ever come across documentation that says you have to eat a high-protein diet all the time, every day, to build muscle but not put on fat, well, it's a sure sign that someone doesn't know a thing about nutrition.

I'm also not a huge fan of creatine supplementation, because that's hormone manipulation. Messing with hormones will get you into trouble.

No, to be a healthy, balanced and long-lived bodybuilder, you have to be really good at everything I promote on this website. Otherwise you're destroying the organs that are essential for life. You can live without muscles, you cannot live without a liver or kidneys.
