Hello, Shelley. I have been very constipated as of late (for about the last two weeks). Bowel movements (which are about 1/day) only yield very little stool (usually very small pieces that are very hard). I ate some oat meal today morning and have been taking fiber pills throughout the weekend. I have been experiencing a lot of gas and flatulence, as well as a sort of diarrhea. I sometimes feel the urge to go, but usually when I go, it is mostly gas and liquid stool--never any solid stool. Well, I've experienced this gassy diarrhea all day today and visited the toilet about 4-5 times. This is where the post gets especially distasteful ...In my latter visits to the toilet, I noticed a little bit of blood on the toilet paper after I wiped my behind. I have noticed this in the past before, as well. However, I have NEVER noticed any trace of blood in the stool itself (and I haven't these past few days, either). Could this blood residue left on the toilet paper be a sign of hemorrhoids? I was thinking that maybe my anus was a little raw from all my visits to the toilet. Is there any way to know for certain if one has hemorrhoids?
Also, in regard to the constipation, I have been waiting for my enema setup to arrive so I flush all the crap out. It should be here in the next 4 days.

| That sounds like it could be from the hemroids, that area can bleed very easily. Can you get an herbal colon cleanse from the health food store while waiting for the enema, like cascara sagrada (sp?)? Just so you aren't in misery til it arrives. |

It could possibly be hemrrhoids, but usually you can FEEL them when you're sitting down or while actually eliminating a BM.
It is quite possible that you're just an easy bleeder right now due to deficeincies of skin and vein food, and/or wonky hormones. Either way, just be very very careful! Try keeping a spray bottle of water next to your toilet, and moisten the tissue paper before wiping. |
