hi Shelley,
Just got back from a holiday in a developing country. Although i was very carefull to only eat cooked food and drink mineral water, i have an upset stomach. Mild diarrhoea, quezzey stomach no appetite.
Any thoughts on what i should do for a speedy recovery from this.
Thanks.

Hi Mahesh! What country did you visit? Gosh I hope I get to travel the world some more. I had a taste of Canada, Western Europe and two trips to London and that's just not enough.
Okay, the first thing you should do is start drinking the Rehydrating Drink. That's lime juice, filtered water, a dash of sea salt or kosher salt, and some kind of sweetener with glucose. You can even use table sugar for this. Glucose helps the body absorb fluids. Salt does too.
Drink a Rehydrating Drink about every waking hour except for mealtimes. Dehydration is a serious issue when you have diarrhea. EmergenC would also be good.
Your foods should be bland and cooked, like baby food. Bananas, apple sauce, satueed apples, avocado, broths. I just posted a soup recipe that would be good for this.
If you have Primal Defense this is a good time to take that to help the residents fight off the unfamiliar invaders. But it's expensive so don't bother buying it if you don't have it unless you plan on doing a lot of traveling in the future. The caplets travel well and help you deal with foreign baddies. A cheaper solution is to support the residents with kefir, yogurt, supplements of live acidophilus.
If you can get a good aloe vera juice that would be very helpful, both to the intestines and the friendly microbes. 1/2 cup 3x a day.
After the diarrhea stops, wait until you have a good appetite before you start eating. If your appetite seems slow to wake, drink peppermint tea.
Hope that helps! |
