I've been using the clay for about a month now and it's a wonderful product. While reading through the FAQ I stumbled upon the aluminum warning. I thought that everyone at one point in their life has been exposed to aluminum cookware, cans, and processed food.
This is quite scary for me now. Should I d/c the clay and use something else? What other types of products are available for bowel cleansing?
If anyone can help explain this I would really appreciate it. |

Hi heather!
Yes, bentonite clay is an aluminum clay. People have long asserted that we did not actually absorb this form of aluminum because it is an ion and negatively charged, but we use ions all the time!
There was a white paper (technical findings) done recently on a person who had been taking bentonite clay for a long time (3 months plus) who did show increased levels of aluminum in a hair analysis, so now a lot of us who used to say "take clay" are re-thinking this. A short-term use of bentonite should be fine, after all, tons of people have done at least one bottle.
You have tons and tons of options for cleansing the colon. Most are mentioned in the FAQ under Bowel Management. Changing your diet is az powerful way, such as adding hot cereals, congee and flax seed tea to your diet, and lots of herbs help too. If you want to dislodge mucoid placque, then a combo of flax/psyllium seed fiber, apple cider vinegar, and coconut oil chased with a cup of Eater's Digest tea (fennel is a great gentle laxative) is quite powerful.
I actually prefer to use enemas and colonics over fiber. I just use enough fiber to cleanse the small intestine and then I concentrate on the large intestine (colon) with high enemas. |
